.:Causes of Civil War:. The North and South were econmically different before the civil because down south the warm temprate climate made a good crop growing climate so all the south was plantations and farms. The North had a lot cooler climate so therefore they were not good lands to grow food on, so there would be no reason to have plantations. the North was made up of mainly citys and factorys were most of the products of the U.S at that time were made. The States Vs. Federal rights helped cause the civil war because the south always maintaned the thought that a strong federal Government was a threat to local norms and traditions. They thought the Northern states(Being more populated) would force there will on the southern states. Another causes was when south carolina succed from the union and tried taking on the fort in charlsten harbor. The north tried to force them to re-join the union and the southern states banned with south carolina leading to war. The Growth of the Abolition Movement helped lead to the civil, because congress oppsed any new slave-states so the south would loose their leverage and they thought the north would tax their imports higher on the things they needed. Which made everybody in the south mad. The election of 1860 was what caused the civil war, because after lincon got elected he said the no more slave states could join. So the south thought the government was getting to strong and had to back out of the union.
